Rivermead’s Governing Body

Welcome to the Governors’ section of our website. The Governing Body's role is to act as a "critical friend" to the school and the Senior Leadership Team, offering help, support and advice as and when required. The governors have responsibility for raising school standards through their three key roles:

  • Setting strategic direction
  • Ensuring accountability
  • Monitoring and evaluating school performance

We have four main categories of school governors:

  • Parent Governors: Parents of children at the school (elected by parent vote)
  • Staff Governors (Teaching and non-Teaching): Members of the school staff (elected by staff vote)
  • Local Authority Governors: Nominated by the Local Authority (Wokingham Borough Council)(and appointed by the Governing Body)
  • Co-opted Governors: Members of the local community (appointed by the Governing Body)

We have two sub-committees who meet at least once a term:

  • Learning, Teaching Standards and Assessment
  • Finance and Resources

Please see the information on governor attendance at meetings and the register of business interests below. You will also find a link to the policy on governors’ allowances below. Any queries should be directed to the Chair of the Governors, Mr. Andy Lewis or the Clerk to the Governing Body, Rivermead Primary School, Loddon Bridge Road, RG5 4BS.Email:
